Daisypetal woke up in the warriors' den and blinked sleep from her sore, tired eyes. Palmleaf laid right beside her, his chest rising and falling rhythmically as he breathed. Giving his soft ginger fur a gentle lick, Daisypetal silently pushed herself up to her paws and exited the den, careful not to wake her mate. In the clearing, she chose a sunny patch to lie in and began groom herself. Sighing, she paused for a while to look into the nursery entrance and watch the SummerClan queens nurse their newborn kits. Daisypetal wished she could join them, she wanted it desperately with all her heart. She had even brought it up to Palmleaf for the first time last night. It didn't go very well.
"Palmleaf," Daisypetal mewed, coming in close and pushing her muzzle into the tom's sandy fur. The two were curled up just outside the warriors' den for a little privacy. The stars were twinkling over head and Daisypetal was in an unusually romantic mood. She nudged him playfully and giggled. "Don't you think its time we had kits? We've been together for so long, and I want to take this to the next level..." Palmleaf shuffled his paws uncomfortably and didn't say anything for a long while. "I don't know, Daisypetal," He mumbled. "I'm not sure I'm ready for that quite yet... I'm sorry." Daisypetal's jaw dropped in disbelief. "What do you mean?" She demanded. "How much more time do you need? I've waited forever!" Palmleaf shook his head impatiently. "Well you can't do this without me, and since I'm not ready yet, it looks like you're going to have to wait a little longer." Without another word, he got up and disappeared into the den, leaving Daisypetal to stare up at the stars above her head.
No, it had not gone well at all. They had argued about it for almost the whole night. Now the couple didn't seem to be very close at all. Sighing, Daisypetal looked from the warriors' den to the nursery, wondering if her mate would ever be ready for kits. She didn't want to rush him, but honestly, how much more time did he need?

Ravenwood yawned as he returned to camp. He had been in out in the woods with Karma all night with out sleeping. At this point he was exhausted. Karma had said she would join him later. Padding toward the warrior's den he spotted Daisypetal. She was looking wistfully at the nursery and he could guess what she was thinking. Her mate Palmleaf was a cautious cat and need time to think. "Daisypetal, I know you must be frustrated but you know Palmleaf, he needs time." He comforted her as he pressed his nose to her ear.

Daisypetal smiled at the contact and nodded understandingly. She was also a little ashamed of her impatience, and of the fact that some other cat understood Palmleaf's needs better than she did. "I know," The golden she-cat sighed, "But I've been waiting for so long... You would think that he'd be ready by now..." Daisypetal sighed once again and looked down at her paws. Why did Palmleaf have to be so closed off and secretive? Why couldn't he just open up to her a little more? Then, raising her head, Daisypetal gave Ravenwood a closer look and narrowed her eyes suspiciously. "Where have you been?" She asked, her ears prickling with curiosity. "It looks as if you haven't slept for a moon!"

"Oh..well...I..." Ravenwood stammered trying to figure out what to tell the golden she-cat. He didn't want to lie to her. "Ummm I was..." He broke off again and decided to tell Daisypetal the truth. "I was out meeting my mate Karma." He left out the part about Leopardback. Not that he was going to forget about her, Daisypetal just didn't need to know that detail. "I was bringing her back to the Clan, I hope Sunstar accepts her." He flicked his tail. "If she doesn't she will have to pick a new deputy because I can't live with out Karma near me."

Daisypetal blinked in surprise, she had never known about this Karma. She didn't even know Ravenwood had a mate. How long had he been sneaking out to see her? He had been hiding it well, because now that she thought about it, Daisypetal couldn't remember any other time when Ravenwood had gone missing. "Ohh, were you?" She asked, her ears prickling with interest. "Is she a rouge? Or a kittypet, or...? Where did you meet her?" Lucky you, Daisypetal thought bitterly. She just couldn't help it. Karma probably wants kits. Am I the only cat in the forest who can't have kits?
At that moment, Karma padded through the camp entrance. She swung her head around wildly, trying to take it all in. This was her new home, her new life. Where's Ravenwood? She wondered, suddenly shy. She wanted to be around a familiar cat. She didn't want to be alone in this strange new place. Scanning the large clearing, Karma spotted Ravenwood speaking to another she-cat and bounded over to them. "Hi, there!" She meowed, desperate to make a good impression. She waved her tail in greeting. This she-cat didn't intimidate her like Leopardback had. She had a whole new vibe, and Karma could just tell that she had nothing to worry about. They were going to be great friends.

Ravenwood was surprised by he questions. he didn't really think that Daisypetal would be interested in his love life. "Oh, well she is a Loner and I haven't been meeting her long. I meet her for the first time back when I was a kit." He admitted shuffling his paws. When Karma appeared next to him he wrapped his tail around hers. "Daisypetal this is Karma, Karma this is Daisypetal." He introduced them with a smile.

Daisypetal smiled sweetly at Ravenwood's mate. "Hey there, Karma!" She greeted the black-and-white she-cat, trying to appear kind and open to friendship. She thought maybe Karma would need a friend in the Clan, someone to watch out for her, and Daisypetal would gladly take the position if needed. Maybe she herself needed a little break from Palmleaf, just to be around other she-cats for a while, and Karma was new here. She probably needed the company as well. "Listen, I know that you're new to Clan life, and that maybe things might seem a bit strange at first, but if you ever need any help or anything like that, you just let me know, alright? I know it must be a little nerve wracking to start all over like this... I'll try to help you out as best I can."
Karma purred and twisted her tail around Ravenwood's as well, tugging on it playfully. She was glad to know another cat in the Clan, a cat other than Ravenwood. She couldn't follow him around the whole day, and Daisypetal seemed friendly enough. "Hi, Daisypetal!" She mewed, giving the golden she-cat a shy smile. "Alright! Thanks! I'll admit, I am kind of nervous..." She looked down at her front legs, which were knocking into each other uncontrollably. Karma made a mental note to go out and look for Rave as soon as she felt it was time. She wanted her sister to be here with her as well, she did not want to go through this alone. Even with Ravenwood at her side, she just felt empty without Rave.

Ravenwood purred in satisfaction as the two she-cats talked. He could tell the gentle Daisypetal would be a great friend to Karma. He watched Karma closely and noticed that she wasn't completely calm. Maybe she was worried about her sister, by the way that Leopardback had rushed off he wondered if Rave would ever come and join them. Sighing softly he let his tail fall on Karma's as their new life together unfolded. "Karma I am sorry, but now I will have to find Sunstar and inform her of your joining, please help her feel welcome Daisypetal" He purred then licked Karma's ear and padded off toward Sunstar's den.

Daisypetal nodded in agreement, calling "Alright then, see you!" after the deputy, watching as he padded away. Turning back to Karma, she smiled. "Come on," she mewed kindly, waving her tail and turning away as well. Looking back over her shoulder, she added, "I'll take you to the fresh-kill pile. It looks as if you haven't eaten all night!" Daisypetal lead the way to the Clan's stock of prey, it was pretty big for this time of year, and picked out a plump vole for Karma and herself to share. Flopping down, she bit into her meal, then pushed it over to the black-and-white she-cat. She was happy to see that SummerClan was doing so well in terms of food supply, especially now that Leaf-Bare covered most of the forest in glittering frost.
Karma couldn't help but to feel a sinking sensation in her heart as Ravenwood loosened his grip on her tail and padded away, her ear was tingling where he had just licked it. She wasn't feeling all that hungry, even though what Daisypetal had said was true; Karma had not eaten since the night before. Still, the golden she-cat was only trying to be friendly, and Karma didn't want to hurt her feelings and so she followed without question. "Yes, I'm starved!" Karma exclaimed, licking her lips as she laid eyes on the vole. Now that she thought about it, food didn't seem like such a bad idea. She smiled at Daisypetal and sat down beside her, taking several hungry bites out of the vole. Chewing thoughtfully, she added "You know, I've never really had a real friend, living on my own and everything."

Karma finished off her vole and licked her lips in satisfaction. "I think I'll go look for my sister now." She decided with a firm nod. It felt about time to fetch Rave. Hopefully Leopardback would be okay by now. Thinking about Leopardback made Karma feel a little guilty and she quickly pushed the thought out of her mind. "I promised that I would come back for her. She's joining SummerClan too. Will you tell Ravenwood where I've gone when he comes back?"
"Sure!" Daisypetal replied, "I'll be sure to let him know. Travel safely now! Good bye!" The gold-and-white she-cat waved her tail in farewell as Karma padded out of camp. She then got up and left to find her beloved Palmleaf.
