Crystalmist hid the pain she had in her heart, with her own daughter not even realizing her mother, and her mate long gone and now hunting with StarClan...she felt more lonelier than ever. She walked beside the freezing waves that gently pushed her to the side, and her crystal blue fur ruffled in the wind. The weak rays of the sun splashed on to her, and she relaxed. "Woodstar? Can you hear me?" She whispered, with her body laying on the banks, and her eyes were pushing back tears. "Our daughter is fine, and I miss you so much." A gentle breeze carried the familiar scent. She staggered up, and couldn't believe her nose. I am always here for you, beloved. You need to have courage, and you need to believe in yourself. Have faith in StarClan, and in the life you've been given. The wind blew Woodstar's gentle voice. "Woodstar! Woodstar, oh Woodst-" She whispered to the wind, but with each calling of her love's name, it was like a thousand thorns pinned in her heart. Don't ever give up. Then the voice was gone. "No! Don't go, don't go...don't leave me.... I love you...I always have." She cried out, but no reply. She lay down again, and thought about what Woodstar said. Don't ever give up. His voice echoed again and again in her head, and she smiled a little. "I won't, I promise. I won't give up." She whispered once again to the blue sky.

(** I just had a thought! Can Crystalmist be Nightmask's previous mentor? Because Nightmask could've arrived when Crystalmist was JUST made into a warrior! **)
Nightmask stared after the clan deputy as she left, a questioning look on her face. Maplepaw haven't arrived yet. Why is Crystalmist leaving already? Flicking her tail at the rest of the cats that were suppouse to be on patrol, Nightmask turned to them. "Looks like there isn't going to a patrol after all." Nightmask meowed, before disappearing into the forest. She didn't want to stalk Crystalmist, but she had to figure out why she left. True to her title, 'the peacekeeper of Autumnclan', she didn't want any of her clanmates suffering. Nightmask saw the troubled expression on Crystalmist's face as she left camp. What is--or was-- troubling her? The observent young cat had seen the sorrow and pride on Crystalmist's face as she gazed at Heathersong. Why was that? Heathersong's mother was a rouge. Could Crystalmist and the rouge be kin? Then another question popped into Nightmask's head, a question that troubled her deeply. Can Crystalmist be Heathersong's mother? So many things were happening at once, Nightmask didn't know what to do. If Crystalmist really was Heatherkit's daughter, why did she keep it a secret? She didn't become deputy that long ago. Nightmask arrived at the scene just in time to hear Crystalmist whisper "I won't, I promise. I won't give up." "Crystalmist?" Nightmask called out softly, her voice echoing off of the surrounding trees. She delicatly stepped next to Crystalmist's side. "Crystalmist, are you okay?' Nightmask asked, her voice full of curiousity and concern.

((Sure! I would like that, and please read my modified post of 'Cyrstalmist of AutumnClan'. I basically retold the story of Heathersong. And I also made a poem for her.)) Crystalmist heard the rustling of a patrol, and quickly staggered up when Nightmask meowed. "Oh, I'm fine. Thank you, Nightmask." She lied, trying to be calm, she had to hide away the sadness of her eyes. Crystalmist put on a happy 'mask' and went to the she-cat. "Any problems so far?" She meowed. The wind ruffled the cats' coats once again, and the waves crashed against the rocks. It stared to blow icy winds, promising colder weather.

The icy weather didn't bother Nightmask very much, as she have a thick coat of weatherproof fur.
"No, nothing wrong so far, except that I scented fox not far from here. It was fresh. We'd better go investigate that. Or would you rather gat a bigger crowd of cats?" Nightmask meowed calmly, almost emotionlessly.
She knew that there was something on her friend's mind. She just didn't know what. Silently telling herself that she won't bug Crystalmist about it, she turned her attention back on the she-cat.
The eerie howl of a dog sent shivers down her spine, but then she heard a twoleg scolding the beast, and relaxed her shoulders. Not all twolegs are bad--that she knew from all her moons as a kittypet--but still, it's better to not take any chances.

As she looked onto the direction Nightmask pointed to as she told about the fox. Then Crystalmist sighed sadly, as if her mask fell off. She began to weep again, and little hiccuping noises came from her chest. She didn't know what to do, Nightmask was going to start asking her questions, and she didn't know what to answer. She turned around, ashamed of herself of crying infront of her own once-apprentice.

Nightmask's soft gaze softened even more.
"Crystalmist, you know that you can trust me. I'm not forcing you to say anything, but do you want to tell me what's wrong?" The gently she-cat meowed, pawing at the ground uncomfortably. She hated to see any of her clan members in distress, especially the ones she is--or was close to. And considering Crystalmist was her previous mentor...

All of the tears she held for moons and moons of loneliness, fell like boulders. The boulders that crushed her into pieces of dust. The dust that flew away and never came back. The tears of memories, the tears of anger, the tears of regret, the tears of happiness, the tears of sadness, the tears of pride, and the tears of hatred. It all showered down. The shame of her face was uncovered, and the gentle, caring mother and mate that once she knew, was gone. She was gone. But, if this cat, standing next to her, could open up her heart and tell her she wasn't worthless, she could be that cat again. She could be the mother and the mate she knew again. She never knew who she was until now, the cat standing next to her told her gently who she was, again. She wasn't named by her mother no longer. She was named by this cat, yes, her name was Crystalmist. And who stood next to her? Nightmask.
((I know that was really stupid and all...but you get it, don't ya?))

(** Lol, nice =D **)
Nightmask crounched low to the ground, pressing her body against her past mentor's.
"Crystalmist, it's okay... everything's okay..." she murmered, feeling the Autumnclan deputy's hot tears falling onto her thick fur.
"No, wait, no..." Nightmask meowed suddenly. "Nothing's okay. Nobody's okay. Nobody will ever be okay unless you can be happy again, Crystalmist. You thought that you were doing a pretty good job at hiding your emotions, but you weren't. The tension in Autumnclan is so thick because our deputy isn't okay. I don't need to hear what you have to say right now, but you'll have to tell somebody something sooner or later."
Pausing, Nightmask took a wavering breath, and gazed down at her once-mentor. She isn't the apprentice anymore. Now she is the mentor. The mentor of her mentor.

Standing frozen, Crystalmist stared into midair, watching nothing but the wind dancing around the two cats. "Nightmask, I need to tell you something,"Crystalmist meowed silently. She swifted her tail side to side, and looked at her apprentice, now more seemed like, her mentor. Yes, Nightmask was even more wiser than Crystalmist herself.

Nightmask nodded at the silver-blue she-cat. "Go on, Crystalmist."
The sun had already began it's descent towards the earth. Bright red light emmited from the shining orb, washing everything in it's path. The trees, grass and lake were painted in the light of the sunset. Nightmask's amber eyes traveled to the light blue sky above her head, almost the same colour of her once-mentor's pelt. Twitching her over-sized black ears, she turned, once again, to face Crystalmist.
