Violetpaw was padding through the Pine Forest when she spotted a plump white rabbit. She began to creep up on it, but accidentally stepped on a twig. It cracked beneath her paws, and the noise startled the rabbit. It pelted away and she ran after it, not noticing that she had accidentally crossed the border into SpringClan territory. It was not until she had brought down the rabbit and bit into its neck that she noticed she was surrounded by unfamiliar apple trees. Uh oh, she thought to herself. I'd better get out of here before someone spots me. She picked up the rabbit and began to make her way back to the border.
((Hazelpaw can come now))

Hazelpaw just so happened to be hunting at that time, as well. He ran excitedly through the forest, his swift paws flying over the grassland, taking him to the Apple Grove. This was his favorite place to hunt. At this time of year, the leaves were beginning to turn orange, and the apples were starting to fall off the trees. It was a beautiful sight. Hazelpaw knew he should have asked his mentor or some other warrior to come with him, but he preferred to hunt alone. Mothstar could yell at him later if she wanted.
The young apprentice stopped and swung his head around. He could smell blood, the scent of freshly killed prey, and headed in that direction to see who would be up so early. What he saw surprised him. Instead of a SpringClan cat, he found a WinterClan cat, dragging a plump white rabbit back to the WinterClan border. "Hey!" He called out, "What are you doing in SpringClan territory?" He thought he sounded more friendly than hostile, but when the cat turned around, it didn't seem to matter anymore. The cat had beautiful white fur, tinted with silver. She was one of the most beautiful she-cats he had ever seen. Without thinking, Hazelpaw bounded over to her until he was padding along beside her, "Hi! I'm Hazelpaw," He introduced himself, "What's your name?"

Violetpaw whipped her head around and narrowed her eyes. She dropped her fresh-kill on the ground and held back a faint hiss. "Violetpaw," she replied. She didn't want to have anything to do with this tom, so she picked up her rabbit and strutted back to the border. She was so pre-occupied in getting away from Hazelpaw that she wasn't watching where she was going and stepped onto a bramble. A sharp thorn sunk into her pad and a bolt of pain shot up her paw. Despite this, Violetpaw kept on limping back to her own territory, her head held high as if nothing had happened.

Hazelpaw ran after Violetpaw, "Wait up!" He called. He saw her step on the thorn and picked up his pace, running as fast as his legs could carry him. He was desperate to help her, but he didn't reach her in time and skidded to a stop at the border, his paws almost touching the other side. He watched her limp away, back to her camp, her head held high. Hazelpaw sighed. What a great first impression, He thought to himself. Ohh well, I'll see her again. Might as well catch something for Faithpaw now. After all, that's what I came out here for in the first place. Hazelpaw padded back the way he came, his tail drooping with disappointment. Half-heartedly, he managed to catch two robins for his friend. I'll tell Faithpaw, The love-struck apprentice decided. She'll know what to do. With a renewed hope, Hazelpaw padded back to camp, feeling a little better that he would have the chance to talk to Faithpaw.
